That is a five-day-old puppy, and he's ours!
The perfect opportunity for us to get another puppy came knocking on our door just a few weeks ago. A woman in town called us to say she has one male left looking for a home. The timing was perfect because Scott and I had already been throwing around the serious thought of bringing another dog into the family.
Here he is again...just four weeks old!
I'm a Dog-Mom
We all see children differently. Some see them as little humans and some see them as dogs. I'm sure it's truly something special to give birth to your own child. They are wonderful, joyful and usually a life-altering experience. I love children, but having some of my own is something I have not experienced and most likely will not. There are many that argue no other experience is as similar to having your own kids, including raising dogs. It's really hard to argue that point because all it is is perspective. But why compare so much? And who has the right to tell me that the love for a child is different than the love for a dog? My dogs are my kids. I love them as such, feed them, teach them, protect them, take care of them when they're sick. I'm a dog-mom. My kids just speak a different language.
Here is our current four-pawed child...
Meet three-year old, Gallatin. He is a high-energy and very sweet yellow lab. He loves to play ball, splash in the water and sit on your lap any chance he gets!
Raising a Puppy
I've only done it only once in my life (Gallatin), and loved every minute of it. I learned a lot about patience, practice and discipline (very similar to what yoga has taught me).
Raising a puppy and owning my first dog completely expanded my world, I found so much more love <3 - I'm so excited to do it again.
I know this new puppy will be a different experience, and I'm anxious to see how his personality develops. It may also be an interesting experience raising a puppy with another dog already in the house. Will it make it easier? Will this new puppy learn from Gallatin? Good habits, or bad, perhaps?
I hope Gallatin and the new puppy get along and enjoy playing with each other.
It would be nice to see them tire each-other out a little bit.
It's time to puppy-proof the house....and hide my yoga mat!
Hello, I'm Julie.
One of the many things yoga taught me was empowerment...and I hope to share that with you here.
