In an effort to bring transition to my life, I created a personal revolution this past November that I call "Footstep Challenges". My first Footstep Challenge was YogaByCandace's 39-Day Flexibility Challenge. That was completed with some success, and now that the holidays are over, it's on to the next Footstep Challenge.
I'll be doing another outlined challenge developed by YogaByCandace. The 31-Day Strength Project. This project will cover the entire month of January, with daily yoga routines focusing onphysical and mindfull strength for stength asanas (poses).
Honestly, I've never done yoga every day for more than a week straight. As much as I love yoga and the progress I see from it, sometimes jammies, hot cocoa and puppy snuggles are just more appealing after a day of work. This project will not only challenge my muscles, but also my will-power to do at least a 20 minute strength practice every day for a month.
I will focus on Bakasana, or Crow Pose. It's a pose I've been wanting to achieve for a long time, but have only occasionally been able to lift off the ground and balance. I know most of that is due to a lack of arm and core strength, so I think this pose will fit the project perfectly. I've been able to use core strength to push off into a headstand, so that alone has increased my confidence level.
Last month, I was a bit overabmitious with the 39-Day Flexibility Challenge, as I chose four poses to focus on instead of just one, as suggested. I've learned that's just too much at one time to put full energy into. During that challenge, I only improved the most on Urdhva Dhanurasana (Wheel Pose).
So there you have it. One more day before January 1st....and I'm off to begin the adventure of Crow Pose!
